Powerhouse Trondheim

Powerhouse Brattørkaia – the World’s Northernmost Energy-Positive Building

Situation
Powerhouse Trondheim is Norway's largest newly built plus house and will generate more energy than what was used for the production of building materials, construction, operation and disposal of the building.
The building is designed on the basis that the environment is at the center of the design and based on that, a new type of architecture is created. For Powerhouse Brattørkaia, the environment and energy have been the starting point for form, while maximum utilization of sun has given the building an exciting and iconic architecture. Solar power and other renewable energy, as well as an extremely low energy consumption, ensure that it becomes a plus house. The building is very dense with little need for heating and with good ventilation. The work comfort is very good, with lots of good light and air in exciting premises with a good view of the Trondheimsfjord and Munkholmen.
